SF6 gas that is cleaner than new gas

The treatment of SF6 gas is one of the most effective methods of reducing SF6 gas emissions. When producing new SF6 gas, emissions are unavoidable due to the production process involving high pressure and high temperatures. Since SF6 gas has an extremely high global warming potential, it is necessary to avoid emissions in all areas of the utilization chain.

The use of new SF6 gas, which is already produced with emissions, and the incineration of used and contaminated SF6 gas producing more emissions at the end of its life cycle is no longer appropriate. We have the technical capabilities trough patented technology, to filter out the minimal contamination that occurs during the operation of SF6 gas and supply you with SF6 gas that is of better quality than new gas. How is this possible? We would be happy to explain this to you in person.

We process SF6 gas in the traditional meaning of recycling, as has been done for decades with waste paper, aluminum, steel, waste glass, and similar materials. The SF6 gas is purified and processed in a cryogenic process with various filter stages. The decomposition products generated during the use of SF6 gas are filtered out of the SF6 gas and professionally neutralized and disposed of. We treat the used SF6 gas to the desired quality needed for your application. The qualities required by IEC 60376 are far exceeded standardly. We can also easily produce medical qualities through multiple treatment. Quality monitoring is continuously supervised during the process using a gas chromatograph.

When SF6 gas is recycled, only the contamination that has formed in the SF6 gas is removed, resulting in a new product that has the same properties as the product obtained from the extraction of natural resources. However, the advantage of processing SF6 gas over new gas is even greater. It not only conserves natural resources, but also avoids the enormous emissions that are produced during the production of new SF6 gas. These emissions cause direct and significant damage to the environment. Thanks to closed extraction and processing systems, there are no emissions during treatment of SF6 gas. In addition, the high energy consumption that was previously necessary for the incineration of used SF6 gas is avoided. Recycling requires significantly less energy than incineration. Overall, recycling therefore offers a huge advantage in terms of CO2 equivalent compared to the use of new SF6 gas - which is effective environmental protection.
